I am truly grateful to the members of OATG (Oxford Asian Textile Group) www.oatg.org.uk who made the effort to attended our small charity lunch event on Saturday 18th April, hosted by Mr & Mrs Owen, at their lovely home in Wimbledon. The charity lunch was arranged as a fundraising event for Connect Indonesia, the charity.

I feel truly honoured to be allowed to cook and to serve Indonesian food in the home of the legendary Indonesian cook and food writer, Sri Owen and Roger Owen.  The aim of the lunch was to introduce authentic Indonesian food and traditional textiles to the OATG members.  I managed to cook several types of dishes on the day which were apparently scrumptious, grateful for the great comments received from the OATG members afterwards.  Ibu Sri also cooked several of her special dishes, such Rendang Padang, and Rempeyek.

On the day, Mrs Sri Owen, also created a charity sale for some of her precious textiles and part of the proceed was donated toward the “Seeing is Believing” project by Connect Indonesia, The Charity.  Mrs Fenty Pior from “Ibu” online shop & Tiana Hanford were also displaying some traditional fashion items at the event, and truly grateful for their participation and contribution in making this event successful.

So grateful and truly lucky for the support given by the students from PPI London (Ichi Cahyani, Alfatania Acha Ismaya, Janice Naomi Citra) without them, none of this would be possible.  My sincere gratitude to Mr and Mrs Owen for the amazing support they provided. Huge thanks to the OATG members who attended the event, it was an honour to serve you all.

Hope to organise more charity lunches and dinners in the near future.

Salam Wastra,

Nelly
